With a focus on specialization, customization, and a holistic approach to human services training, we are confident in our ability to make a meaningful difference. We strive to build long-term partnerships with organizations committed to trauma-informed care and mental health support.
The Proper Perspectives was founded on my personal experience as a survivor growing up in a broken home, a situation that arose from a mental health crisis. There is a prevalent stigma surrounding individuals who endure mental health issues such as PTSD, severe anxiety, and depression, as well as conditions like schizophrenia. I aimed to transcend the imbalanced conditions of my upbringing and environment, which was marked by poverty, crime, and substance use, where mental health support was often lacking. Both of my parents were diagnosed with schizophrenia, and my siblings later faced challenges, discovering that depression and paranoid schizophrenia often stemmed from substance use and incarceration. Through human services training, I seek to promote trauma-informed care and break the cycle of stigma surrounding mental health.
Being unaware of PTSD and not acknowledging the pre-morbid trauma that innately existed would later manifest into anxieties resulting in a violent criminal history. While many would say I had a mild temperament, it was clear something triggered my criminal behavior. Faced with urban oppression combined with anxieties, I began to conform to the criminal patterns of drug dealing and gang violence to prove a point against peer pressure. However, having a hard-working employment background since my teens, I began working with and learning various hiring practices and human resource departments. For years, I carried the image of a model employee while simultaneously pressing the character of a relevant street legend, finding myself caught between two worlds. These bi-polar experiences, along with being taken off the streets for a decade, allowed me to relate with people from many realms enough to help re-entering citizens get employed with transferable skills. At the same time, I helped companies become relatable to an estranged population of workers. I learned the value of all individuals and how their potential can become the principal investment to purpose, thereby creating successful employees. After being released from federal prison in 2021, I made my way into human services training as a student at John Jay and later worked as a case manager, housing supervisor, and then Program Director with Exodus Transitional Community. This trauma-informed agency, et ny.org, taught me the relevant principles of trauma-informed care and mental health support, leading me to create opportunities to help all staffing needs.

By fostering a deeper understanding of trauma and its impact, we aim to enhance the quality of human services training and improve mental health support through trauma-informed care, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of communities.
We are committed to human services training and the development of a workplace culture that fosters compassion and caring for all individuals, while emphasizing the importance of mental health support and trauma-informed care.

Trauma-informed care principles and practices are essential in human services training, as they help us understand the effects of violence and trauma on individuals and communities. These principles focus on building resilience and fostering healing while utilizing effective communication and engagement strategies. Additionally, self-care and burnout prevention for staff in human services are crucial to maintaining the well-being of those providing mental health support. Implementing trauma-informed approaches within workplaces can be achieved through various strategies, including building credible messengers from individuals impacted by the legal system. This is particularly important for improving access to therapy for those affected by legal challenges and working effectively with individuals impacted by the legal system. Furthermore, adopting best practices when engaging with individuals who have behavioral health concerns such as trauma, serious mental illness, or substance use is vital for providing comprehensive support.
We operate human services training sessions both virtually and in person, focusing on essential aspects such as mental health support and trauma-informed care.
